2020 Year End Wrap Up!!
I know 2020 was a hard year for a lot of people. For those of you who have lost loved ones to the virus, I’m sorry. To those of you who struggle with mental illness and were stuck quarantined by yourself, I’m sorry. To anyone else who struggled this year, I am truly sorry you had to go through that. It was a hard year in a lot of ways. But I want to focus on the positives in this blog post. My business has continued to grow despite a global pandemic. We have gotten to foster a lot more doggos since I’ve been working from home almost the whole year. I have spent a lot less time commuting. I’ve been able to work from my couch nearly all year (wearing leggings!!). I have spent a lot more time with Ryan and Josie. We were able to have a season of virtually no commitments outside of work, which would have never happened in a regular year…and it was great (yes, I’m a homebody). We’ve saved a lot more money than normal (thanks to less gas, less random trips to the store on my way home from work, and less going places in general).
I’m grateful for the couples and families I’ve gotten to serve this year. If you’ve trusted me to capture your memories, I am truly thankful and hope I captured them in a way that you love and will forever cherish. I look forward to working with you more this year :)
My word for 2020 was “consistency” and let me tell ya, it was hard to stay consistent when it felt like the world was falling apart and everything about my routine was totally upended. Despite the changes, I was finally able to establish a routine and bring some consistency back into my life by the end of the year.
For 2021, my work is “present”. I am currently reading Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) for the second time and after a year of struggling with consistency and in a culture of “more” and “perfection”, this year I want to choose presence over perfection. That looks like being present and focused during my quiet times with God. That looks like being intentionally present during my time with Ryan (the one whose love language is quality time). That looks like being present and not scrolling social media when I’m with family and friends. That looks like potentially taking social media breaks every so often. It also looks like being more present and invested in the lives of my clients. I want to know you personally so I can best capture your love, family, etc. So yeah, enough of that and more of why you came here…my year end wrap up!!
Here’s what my year looked like in numbers:
