What to do the week before your wedding
There is so much going on the week before your wedding. Finalizing the decorations, making sure everything is gathered in one easily accessible place, making sure none of the groomsmen show up late (lol). Here I am going to list a few things you should do the week before your wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Relax with your future hubby! I always recommend my brides take one evening (or even just a few hours) the week of their wedding and go on a date with their future hubby. Spend time reflecting on the season of engagement and remembering why you’re thankful to go through the stress you’re currently going through—so you can marry your favorite person in the world!
Get your rings cleaned. Your photographer will be taking close ups of your ring. You know you want it looking its best!! Also, once you get it cleaned, maybe leave it in the box so nothing happens to get it dirty again.
Gather your details to make the photographer’s life easier. If you gather all of the details you want photographed and have them in the bridal suite with you when the photographer gets there, I promise she will thank you profusely. It is best to have them all in a box or bag so the photographer can grab them and take them somewhere out of the way that has good light. Some things you may want to gather include:
A spare invitation suite
All three rings
Your jewelry
Your shoes
Your dress
Your veil
Your perfume (if it’s in a pretty bottle)
Anything else special that you’re wearing
Groom’s shoes
His watch
His cufflinks
His cologne (if it’s in a pretty bottle)
His tie/bow tie
Anything else special that he’s wearing
Make a list of everything you need to bring with you. (I preface this with the fact that I am 100% a list-maker and basically live by them) You might think you’ll remember everything off the top of your head, but I have heard too many horror stories about brides forgetting their dress (!!) to leave it to your brain to remember everything. Making a physical list also allows other people (groom, mom, dad, sister, MOH) to help you gather things instead of relaying the list from your brain. It will also reassure you when someone asks “hey did you get…?” You can just look at the list and be assured you did pack that already.
Delegate! This is an important one. You can’t do everything on your own. There isn’t enough time in the day. Plus, it’s your wedding and most people are eager to help you to make sure everything goes smoothly. If you just have too many things to do and not enough time to do them, ask for help!
Those are my biggest tips for making sure your wedding day goes as smoothly as possible by preparing the week before. If you have any you think I missed, I would love to hear about them in the comments!
